Camozzo Roberto Maria

Roberto Maria Camozzo was born in Murano on July 24, 1945, and from a very young age, he dedicated himself to the ancient art of glassmaking. He learned its first secrets as an apprentice to Ermanno Nason and later at the prestigious Mazzega glassworks. A turning point came with his entry into the historic Salviati furnace, where he worked alongside Livio Seguso, an artist with whom he would forge a long and fruitful creative partnership. When Seguso opened his own furnace, he brought Camozzo with him, recognizing his talent and technical precision.
Over the years, Camozzo honed his mastery by collaborating with renowned figures such as Tosi, Fuga, and Mavrodin. His skill in shaping large sculptural forms, the crystal-clear quality of his glass, and the elegance of his compositions became the hallmarks of his art. His flawless technique, combined with deep artistic sensitivity, earned him numerous accolades and made him a sought-after collaborator for international artists like Robert Wilson, Fujita, and Alfredo Sosabravo.
In 1980, together with Elio Raffaeli, he launched a new venture by founding his own workshop. Their famous sculptures, featuring tiny fish and marine shapes encapsulated in glass, became symbols of a refined and innovative aesthetic. This vision culminated in 1997 with the creation of a new studio, where production continues to flourish.
In 1982, alongside Raffaeli and Renzo Vianello, he co-founded Ars Murano srl, a workshop where passion, technical excellence, and experience are seamlessly blended. His constant guidance and dedication have made him a key figure in training new generations of glass masters.
Roberto Camozzo’s artistic career has also been recognized in major international auctions, with his works – from sculptures to decorative objects – featured multiple times, including the aquarium Rechteckiges Aquarium and the vase The Reef.
Today, Roberto Camozzo is a true icon of Murano artistic glass: a master capable of blending tradition and innovation with grace, expressive power, and unmatched technical expertise.
